Position Summary:
The Concessions Operator, Harris Theater is responsible for managing concessions operations at Harris Theater in a way that creates a professional, warm, and welcome atmosphere for all guests. This position works collaboratively with other front of house, operations, and programming personnel to ensure outstanding concessions service while also focusing on guest safety, comfort, and enjoyment while visiting the theater. During shifts, the Concessions Operator will engage in pre-show concessions preparations, interact with patrons, manage all concessions transactions, and ensure the cleanliness and safety of the concession stand areas. This individual will work a flexible schedule involving primarily evening and weekend hours as dictated by the Harris Theater performance schedule.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
Education: Education in the areas of theater, theater management, retail management, and/or related field preferred.
Work Experience: Prior work experience preferred in concession sales, theater operations, retail sales, and/or restaurant operations.
Supervisory Experience: Prior supervisory experience is not required.
Technical Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite required. Familiarity and comfort with Point-of-Sale technology is required. Knowledge of theater audio/video equipment and digital projection is helpful. Knowledge of Tessitura cash management to be used as a Point of Sale System is preferred.
Intangibles: People oriented, customer-service oriented, strong problem-solver. Excellent communications skills. Able to maintain calm demeanor and work effectively in a fast-paced and hectic environment. Detail-oriented and comfortable handling cash on a regular basis.

Decision-making responsibility: The Concessions Operator has some discretion regarding concessions operations during shows and events worked.
Budgetary responsibility: This position has no budget responsibility.
Strategic responsibility: The Concessions Operator does not have strategic responsibility.
Reporting requirements: The Concessions Operator does not have any reporting requirements.
Travel requirements: Limited travel (less than 5%) is required for this position.
Physical demands: This position involves occasional physical exertion – lifting up to 50 lbs. may be required. While working the concession stands, walking and/or standing for extended periods of time is necessary.
Starting at $15/hour

- Manage concessions operations during Harris Theater shows, providing prompt and friendly concession services to all patrons.
- Engage in pre-show preparation of the concession stands – ensuring that concession items are fully stocked, cash drawers are ready, the popcorn is popped in adequate amounts, and the concessions area is clean and safe.
- Ensure strong cash management of concession sales, providing post-show reconciliation of all cash and credit receipts.
- Monitor concession supplies and inform the venue manager when additional supplies need to be ordered.
- Interact with patrons during shows and support front of house operations to provide exceptional patron experiences.
- Conduct regular inspections of the building and concessions areas for cleanliness, maintenance, and safety concerns and provide general cleaning support as necessary.
