Production Manager
Production Manager is a full-time, salaried position working across all Pittsburgh Cultural Trust performance venues. The Production Manager consults with internal and external production staff to acquire the technical and production requirements necessary to get a production running on time and on budget at Trust performance venues. Key aspects of this position include:
· Managing the advance process, including communicating with the production company, validating technical rider information, and deciding on staffing and equipment needs.
· Advising promoters/co-promoters regarding production and labor costs and building cost estimates for production.
· Building schedules for load in, run of the show, and load out, while also managing labor (stagehands) within union rules and the estimated cost structure.
· Managing the load-in/load-out process on-site and interpreting union contract language to ensure compliance with labor rules.
· Providing estimates and cost information for show settlements, including stagehand labor costs, stage charges, and rental charges.
Candidates should have at least 3 years’ experience in theater arts, stage managing, or related field. Experience with production operations and interpreting labor contracts strongly preferred. The position requires basic understanding of lighting, sound, and production equipment and familiarity with plans and technical terminology used by production crews. Outstanding scheduling/logistical skills are essential. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and accountable with strong problem-solving orientation. This individual should have excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with different personalities and stakeholders. The Manager must be able to work a flexible schedule that will include evening and/or weekend work.
Bachelor’s degree in arts management, stage management, production management, theater arts, or related field preferred. The salary range for this position starts at $55,000.
